(KZN.RU,
May 29). The deficit of drivers has decreased in Kazan for the first time in
last few years. In 2016, the number of vacancies for the driver's position
decreased by 3% in the capital of Tatarstan. Aidar Abdulkhakov, the chairman of
the Committee on Transport of the Executive Committee, reported this during the
Business Monday in the City Hall today.
According
to the speaker, it was possible to achieve this result thanks to the training
activities, which transport enterprises conduct independently. The MUE
“Metroelectrotrans” on the basis of the Kazan motor transportation technical
school named after A. Budenov conducts training of drivers of trams and trolley
buses for work at the enterprise. “Learners are paid scholarships, nonresidents
are provided a place in the hostel with further employment, drivers are
provided with uniform. 109 people were trained in 2016, 77 of them were
employed as drivers”, noted A. Abdulkhakov.
Also
drivers of the “D” category are prepared on the basis of the MUE “PATP-2”
enterprise in a driving school. In 2016, 34 learners were trained, 10 of them
remained as drivers. “Driver training for the MUE “PATP-2” is also carried out
on the basis of the Kazan Machine-Building Technical School. 102 people were
trained there in 2016, 35 of them were employed by the auto enterprise”, said
A. Abdulkhakov.
According
to him, in total, more than 1,800 drivers work in 13 enterprises of urban
passenger transport, while the number of vacant jobs for May 25 this year is
476 people. “Transport companies are forced to attract citizens of near abroad
because of a shortage of drivers. Currently, 554 foreign drivers work in the
city's passenger enterprises. Good living conditions are created for them.
There are 7 hostels for 1536 places in 5 transport enterprises”, noted A.
Abdulkhakov.
Ilsur
Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, marked that “it is necessary to find non-standard
solutions”, because the city is in need of public transport drivers. As an
illustrative example, the Mayor cited the creation of conditions at the
enterprise MUE “PATP-2”. “Recently we saw a new hostel in “PATP-2”. Very decent
conditions, they match the level of the Universiade Village and, of course, it
cannot be called “hostel”. Indeed, this is a good house for living. But these
funds are invested by the enterprise itself, not everyone can afford it.
Nevertheless, it is a serious step towards reducing the shortage of drivers
that we are experiencing. 476 vacancies are, of course, a big number with
drivers having a relatively high salary over 40,000 rubles”, noted the head of
the city.
I. Metshin
added that, despite the high competition for employees, there is still positive
dynamics in the transport sector. “Over the past year, the number of drivers
has increased by 3%. This shows the great work that our heads of public
transport enterprises are conducting”, concluded the Mayor of Kazan.
Also,
Iskander Giniyatullin, the deputy head of the Executive Committee and the
chairman of the Housing and Utilities Committee, reported on employment in the
sphere of housing and communal services during the meeting. According to him,
the deficit of workers in the industry is usually seasonal. “There is a
seasonal outflow of workers engaged in heavy physical labor, such as are
janitors, cleaners. The janitors mostly leave us on the eve of winter, with the
onset of snowfalls. In winter, the deficit of janitors is about 25%. All the
rest of the time the industry is staffed quite well, work on improving the
skills of employees continues”, said the chairman of the Housing Committee.
