(KZN.RU, February 5, Mikhail Chentsov). The expected number
of students in Kazan schools will grow by more than 60% and will be 195145
people by 2025. Now there are 121 thousand students enrolled in the city's
schools. Ilnar Khidiyatov, the acting Head of the Department of Education,
reported to Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, during the annual report of the
structural units.
Today 162 schools provide educational services in Kazan, and
more than 18000 children study in a two-shift regime in 64 of them. In 2016, 58
general education institutions worked in two shifts.
I. Khidiatov reminded that two new schools were opened in
the city on September 1, 2017. In addition, 3 more are currently being built in
RC “Salavat Cupere”, “Svetlaya Dolina”, and “Solovinaya Roshcha”.
“They reduce the load in the new neighborhoods of the city
but it is still far from the full transition to the one-shift regime”, said the
reporter. He also noted that the baby boom, which has been going on for several
years in Kazan, encourages the Education Department to work ahead of time. “We
worked 28 land plots in new micro-districts for the construction of schools together
with the Architecture Department. We are also considering possible options for
creating annexes to schools”, marked I. Khidiyatov.
Kazan is the unconditional leader in the construction of
educational facilities among over cities with a million population in Russia
over the past 10 years (except Moscow and St. Petersburg). Since 2007, 118
facilities have been built in the capital of Tatarstan, including 103
kindergartens and 15 schools.
