I. Metshin about application of Kazan to host «WorldSkills»

Nomination of Kazan to host the «WorldSkills» championship is not only an honor for us, but also a great responsibility. Our city has joined the global movement «WorldSkills» three years ago. Kazan and Tatarstan are leaders among Russian cities and regions on the number of participants in past championships: in our city the second and third national competition «WorldSkills» were held, which united all the members of the Russian team to prepare for the «WorldSkills» at the international level.

We have accumulated vast experience in the organization of big world events. During the preparation for the Universiade, we have improved the infrastructure of the city, built a large number of modern sports facilities; the transport structure of the city has been completely renovated. And now we are preparing for major events at the global level, such as championships FINA and FIFA. We will do everything to carry out these important competitions at the highest level. And if Kazan will win the right to host the international tournament «WorldSkills», it will not be an exception!

Championship «WorldSkills» is what our young people need. Now we can see the greatest interest in the competition from the young people, the business community and the Government. More than 40% of the population of Kazan is young people aged up to 30 years old; more than 150 thousand students live in the city. We have an effective working system to support innovations, which includes the "Idea" Technopark , "Himgrad" Technopolis, that attract young professionals from many regions of our country and from abroad. So I'm sure that Kazan is ready to host the international championship «WorldSkills» at 100%! It will be a new field for the development and co-operation with foreign partners for us.
