Last year, 19,314 children were born in Kazan – 610 more babies than in
2022. The capital of Tatarstan remains the leader in this indicator in the
Volga Federal District. This was announced at the Business Monday by Elena
Studenikina, the head of the Registry Office of the city.
According to her, the number of registered births in Kazan exceeds the
number of deaths by 32%. The capital of the republic has become the only city
in the Volga Federal District, which maintains a positive birth rate. In
addition, the number of death certificates in 2023 decreased by 814 to 13,098.
“Nineteen thousand children over the past year, the positive dynamics of
births, declining divorces, confident natural population growth are certainly
very positive factors, a litmus test of the state of the city,”- said Mayor
Ilsur Metshin. “These are not only square meters of housing and kilometers of
repaired and built roads, but also the mood and well–being of our Kazan
residents.”
“Although it is hard to catch up with the baby boom - it is necessary to
build social facilities – but it is always more pleasant than watching
residents leaving the city,”- concluded the head of the city.
According to Elena Studenikina, registration of the birth of children in
the capital of the Tatarstan is organized in all maternity hospitals. About 80%
of mothers received a certificate directly at the hospital. Registration of a
baby is available without visiting the registry office on the super service “Birth
of a child”.
In 2023, 43 % of the newborns became the firstborn in the family.
Another 34% became the second, 17% – the third, 6% – the fourth and more. 52%
of kids are boys, 48% are girls. Twins were born in 259 families, and triplets
in three.
