I. Metshin: "We must conduct systematic work on the prevention of drug addiction"

(Kazan City KZN.RU, November 23, Ksenia Shvetsova). In the fight against the spread of narcotic drugs a preventive measures play the major role. In Kazan this year a program of prevention of drug addiction adopted for 2011-2015 is completed. During this time tangible progress in solving this problem was achieved. As Mayor Ilsur Metshin stressed at today's Business Monday, fully win in the fight against drugs is possible only by combining the efforts of all residents.

So far, according to the statistics, mainly young people fall under attack of drug dealers. To counter this, the Mayor called to tell young people honestly what awaits them in case of using of prohibited preparations. "We must conduct systematic work on the prevention of drug addiction; I urge all heads of districts and experts to pay attention to it. We need to show our children with no embellishment, no smoothing of angles what awaits them if they are using drugs, "- said the head of the city.

As the deputy head of the Executive Committee of Kazan on social issues Natalia Grechannikova told, a great job was made thanks to the program of prevention of drug addiction, which ends this year. Total nearly 11 million rubles have been allocated on this program. All of them were directed to the primary prevention of various types of addictions, countering the proliferation of prohibited substances and providing psychological assistance to persons admitting drug use, N.Grechannikova explained.

First of all prevention work has affected students. In educational institutions it is conducted on the basis of offices for primary prevention of substance abuse. To feel the real benefits of the anti-drug activities we must speak with children on their language. Therefore, experts are constantly searching for new forms and methods of work in this direction with the students. Many projects affect those areas of life that are most interesting for the younger generation as an Internet project "Youth of Kazan" on sites "VKontakte" and "Facebook". The scope of this group, as well as of an account of "Youth" in "Twitter", is already about 19 thousand people.

In addition, on behalf of the Mayor of Kazan, at the expense of the target program a short film "Last number 48092" was created. More than 38 thousand students watched it at all-time of the implementation of the program. As professionals tell, the film is quite tough, so as a rule, it is always commented by healthcare professionals and anti-drug commissions. Everyone can see this film – it is posted in the public domain on the Internet.

At the same time it is no secret that if teenagers are engaged in sports or creative, it is unlikely that they will have time for drugs. Therefore, according to N.Grechannikova, during the year the Committee of Physical Culture and Sport has conducted 240 sporting events of 50 sports, including 98 championships and 34 tournaments. In turn, Kazan system of supplementary education in the arts spans about 23 thousand people.

These and other preventive measures will continue in the future in the city. Kazan Mayor urged all citizens to join the fight against drugs. The Mayor instructed to prepare for the meeting of the commission, which will be held in January next year, and talk about specific proposals to combat the spread of illicit substances.

"Today there is no greater challenge to society than the drugs. We are able to work and be a single entity, and now have to prove it - says I. Metshin. - Government, business and society - we all must unite in this struggle, and then we can win. Kazan has to become the most prosperous not only in Tatarstan, but also in Russia".
