KZN.RU, November 26, Zilya Gayfi). Vladimir Yakunin was awarded the title of
Honorary Citizen of Kazan. Mayor Ilsur Metshin presented higher municipal reward
to ex-president of "Russian Railways" today at the capital's City
Hall. The event was attended by Minister of Transport and Roads of the Republic
of Tatarstan Lenar Safin, as well as representatives of national agencies and
the Executive Committee of the city.
Opening the
ceremony, Ilsur Metshin recalled the main achievements of Vladimir Yakunin
reached the post of president of the company "Russian Railways" (2005-2015).
"Today we honor a man who made an enormous contribution to the development
and prosperity of Kazan. Thanks to the work of Vladimir Ivanovich Kazan
acquired a modern transport infrastructure, seized opportunities to serve the
residents and visitors to the capital of Tatarstan. Everything possible was
done to Kazan showed the highest level of world events such as the World Summer
Universiade 2013, the International World Championships FINA 2015 and many
other Russian and international forums. We express our sincere gratitude for

Vladimir

range of honorary citizens of Kazan. This title is rooted in the history of the
Russian Empire, outstanding people of the country were marked with it. Much has
been said about the contribution of "Russian Railways" and your
honorable servant - this is an exaggeration. Because none of this would not
have been done if there was no clear social orientation of the policy of leadership
of Tatarstan and Kazan, which has invested in the development of transport
infrastructure far more effort and resources than I did ", - said Vladimir
Yakunin.
Tatarstan

from 2005 to 2015, associate many years of fruitful relations. The
collaboration resulted in a set of jointly built and reconstructed objects. So,
in 2005 the railway landing platform, combined with the underground station
"Ametevo", was put into operation. In 2007 Kazan children's railway opened.
Within the framework of reconstruction of the Kazan railway junction in 2012
the opening of transport interchange "Kazan-2" took place. Also,
thanks to the personal involvement of Vladimir Yakunin, in preparation for the
Universiade in Kazan a project of intermodal transport from the railway station
"Kazan" to the international airport "Kazan" was
implemented.
