The Mayor of the capital of Tatarstan, Ilsur Metshin, visited the Kazan
Pedagogical College, which is located on Daurskaya Street in the Sovetsky city
district. The Mayor met with teachers and students of the educational institution,
including those who have practice in a training apartment for children with
disabilities. Ilsur Metshin got acquainted with the resource center for teachers
and the Bakhetle Bala child development center. The Mayor of Kazan instructed
the Department of Education together with the college to develop creative
projects. Together with the head of the city, Tatarstan Minister of Education
and Science Ilsur Khadiullin visited the educational institution.
“This year is the Year of the Teacher and Mentor. Therefore, we are
launching a number of grants for Kazan teachers, but this is not enough. I ask
Irek Asafovich together with the college staff to analyze the potential of our
cooperation, to think over steps for its development. We should not take a
passive position, but be initiators of joint creative projects,”- Ilsur Metshin
said, addressing the head of the Education Department of the Executive
Committee of the city Irek Rizvanov.
Kazan Pedagogical College is one of the oldest educational institutions
in the country, founded in 1876. “It was opened on the initiative of the
educator and theologian Shigabutdin Marjani by the faculty of the Imperial
University as the Kazan Tatar Teachers' School,”- said the director of the
college Anfisa Zalyalova when visiting the museum. Among the outstanding
graduates is the Tatar composer Sara Sadykova.
Today, 1,726 students study at the college in four main programs –
teaching in primary classes, preschool education, physical education,
information systems and programming. Since April 2022, 42 students have trained
at supplementary short-term courses on working with children with intellectual disabilities.
Among them are 4th–year students Anastasia Matveeva and Nadezhda Kuznetsova,
who were volunteers in a training apartment for special children, which opened
last summer.
The head of the city thanked the college administration for paying
attention to the training of staff to work with children with disabilities. “This
is very important for us. For the convenience of parents of children with
disabilities, we decided to open such apartments in each district. But in
addition to the walls, teachers are needed who would be trained to work with
such children and pass on their experience, - the head of the city said. - We
will create conditions so that there are as many opportunities as possible for
teaching special children. We are waiting for you not to practice, but to
work.”
To date, the Kazan Pedagogical College is a specialized competence center
of WorldSkills Russia in the republic of Tatarstan and the expert center of
Russia for the competence “Teacher of preschool children” under WorldSkills
standards and has the status of a regional innovation platform. Since 2015,
students of the educational institution have been taking part in the Young
Professionals competition (WorldSkills Russia) in the competencies “Teaching in
junior school” and “Preschool education”. This allowed the college to enter the
top 100 educational institutions of secondary vocational education of the Young
Professionals organization.
Ninety-three teachers work with students at the college, noted Anfisa
Zalyalova. “70% of our graduates work at schools. And in general, more than 90%
of students continue their career in educational system,”- the director of the college
summed up.
