In Kazan, the improvement of the first site around the Bolshoye Chaikovoe Lake has been completed
Marat Muginov
The Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin got acquainted with the results of the improvement.
The work on a 2.1-hectare site was carried out with great attention to
preserving the flora and fauna of the lake.
The Mayor emphasized that caring for the environment is a priority for the
landscaping work. A program launched by the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam
Minnikhanov allowed to save the Swan Lakes from drying out. This year, a lot of
work has been done on the Blue Lakes cascade.
«As they say, we have finally got around to landscape the Bolshoye
Chaikovoe Lake. It has been connected to Maloye Chaikovoe Lake and a pedestrian
connection has been made between Amirkhana, Adoratskogo and Chuikova Streets.
While there is still work to be done, we have already achieved a large
landscaped site in the heart of the residential district. Thanks to the active
participation of residents, the project has been successful. Environmentalists
have also contributed, and we have listened to their input with great attention»,
– the Mayor said.
The improvement
of the first part of the area started in May, but the main part of work was
done after the nesting period of seagulls had ended. By November, all work had
been completed.
A new
entrance group has been created between the perinatal center and a St. Tikhon’s
church. Arrangements have been made with the leaders of the temple for its
partial inclusion into the pedestrian framework of the park. Paths have been
paved with tiles covering an area of 1,800 square meters.
Lighting
has been installed along all pedestrian routes, with 3,000 lamps providing warm
light. In addition, eight ball lights have been installed.
In the
park, 19 benches, 16 urns, six wayfinding signs, were installed. The workers
also installed 22 video surveillance and sound warning cameras and carried out
work on the installation of outdoor water and electricity supplies and
sanitation.
The
territory was decorated with 350 trees and approximately a thousand shrubs. Additionally,
a lawn was laid on an area of over 6,000 square meters and an automatic
irrigation system was installed. A 119 square meter pavilion was built between
the lakes to house a coffee shop and toilet.
In 2025,
it is planned to create a pedestrian zone in front of the shopping center on
Adoratskogo Street, reorganize the existing shopping area along Akademika
Lavrentieva Street and lay a pedestrian zone from Akademika Lavrentieva to
Marshal Chuikov between Bolshoye and Maloye Chaikovoe Lakes. The total area of
the Chaikovoe Lake territory is 10 acres.
The landscaping of the Bolshoye Chaikovoe Lake
was initiated by residents, who voted for the project in the annual republican
survey. The work is being carried out under the Formation of a Comfortable Urban
Environment project of the national Housing and Urban Environment program.
