By the end of 2023, the number of applications from citizens for culling
stray dogs in Kazan decreased by 32%, and there were fewer cases of bites – by
18%. In total, 3,500 stray animals were caught in the city last year. This was
announced to the Mayor of the capital of the republic of Tatarstan Ilsur
Metshin at a reporting meeting on the results of the work for the year by the
chairman of the Committee of Housing and Utilities Services of Kazan Vasily
Lysachkin.
He reported that in 2023, 4,197 applications were received from citizens
to catch stray dogs, while a year earlier there were 6,180 applications.
In 2023, municipal authorities concluded contracts with specialized
organizations for the total amount of 32.7 million rubles to cull stray dogs.
In addition, the number of bites decreased by 18%.
“The figures clearly show the results of the systematic work that we
have been doing for three years: the number of applications decreased by a
third, the number of bites by 18%. I ask you not to reduce your attention to
this work, which is important for the citizens and their safety,”- Ilsur
Metshin said.
