22 September will mark the readiness of all the hotels designated to
host the BRICS Summit participants in Kazan. 14 hotels are renovating the
rooms, six of which have already finished the works. Eight more hotels are
modernising the furniture. Ilsur Metshin paid an inspection visit to the Grand
Hotel Kazan and Shalyapin Palace, which have a total of 20 rooms repaired.
Over 20 thousand people are expected to come to the BRICS Summit. Apart
from the delegations with the heads of states, journalists, technical staff,
law enforcement officers and volunteers will also arrive in the city. Kazan is
preparing 52 hotels for their accommodation. Some of the venues had to get
renovated due to the international requirements: to repair the rooms and
utilities system, install new furniture. As a result, the hotels will now have a
higher level, and renovated infrastructure will remain for future guests of the
city allowing for the opportunities in the tourist field to grow.
Thus, the first spot the mayor Ilsur Metshin inspected was a four-star Grand
Hotel Kazan in Peterburgskaya Street commissioned in 2009. The facility owner
Ilshat Khayrullin accompanied the mayor. In the run-up to the Summit, eleven
rooms have been refined: ten suites and one presidential suite. This required
reconfiguring the space and merging several other rooms. Now the presidential
apartments are undergoing minor repair, other rooms have everything done.
The 17-storey hotel provides 214 rooms, small and large conference halls,
a meeting room and fitness centre. The main restaurant offers an extensive menu
with the dishes of the Tatar, Russian, and European cuisines.
Later Ilsur Metshin visited the four-star Shalyapin Palace Hotel, which
is located in a 19th-century building in Baumana Street. For the international
event, the facade, roof, and entrance space were renovated at the cultural
heritage site. Director of the Committee for Tourism Development Daria
Sannikova noted the changes affected ten suites and one presidential suite. In
the latter, the curtains were partially changed, minor repair made, and
appliances and furniture purchased for the room. The suites underwent
comprehensive repair works: wallpaper was pasted afresh, ceilings painted,
flooring changed, furniture installed, and the room zoned into a bedroom and living
room. The menu offers national cuisine according to the Halal standards.
A total of 123 rooms, several conference halls, a sauna, swimming pool,
and gym are available in the Shalyapin Hotel.
