This year, 152 buses will
introduce a contactless fare payment system. Alexey Sidorov, Chairman of the Kazan
Transport Committee, announced this during the final report to Ilsur Metshin, the
Mayor of Kazan. By the end of 2024, contactless payment systems were introduced
on 42 buses of the company.
In 2024, Metroelectrotrans
completed the conversion of all trolleybuses and trams to a non-contact payment
system. The equipment was installed on 96 trams and 160 trolleybuses. It
allowed saving 224 million rubles on payroll. Some supervisors were retrained
as drivers or auditors for the control service, while others received new
specialties within the company.
For reference, since this year, the fine for
ticketless travel increased to 2,500 rubles. Currently, only 1% of passengers
refuse to pay their fare after receiving comments from inspectors.
