For today 15 thousand of Kazan veterans received medals and memorable gifts, including 9 thousand people - at home.

Recall that prior to May 1 in the capital of the Republic awards and gifts will be awarded to 37 thousand veterans of the Great Patriotic War and home front workers.

"We go into the schedule, - said today during a "Business Monday" Mayor of Kazan. - But now we have a very large block of questions related to the request of the President of Russia - to provide apartments to all veterans of the war, regardless of when they got registered. In total in Kazan 335 veterans need new housing, but in reality should be allocated much more flats.

"Under the law the veteran has a right to choose a new place of residence, regardless of place of registration, - said Ilsur Metshin. - Nearly half of the 7 thousand of republican veterans in need of better housing conditions have expressed their desire to get an apartment in Kazan. On the one hand, this is a plus for us, these will be new residents of our city, on the other hand - the new challenges. And yesterday during detour of construction projects on social mortage together with the President of Tatarstan, we discussed this issue, and it was decided to increase the number of apartments to be built in the capital of the Republic".

Mayor of Kazan once again emphasized that it is very important to treat the wishes and requests of the veterans attentively and with awe to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the Victory without any grudges.

"If, God forbid, something fails, inform about it immediately to fulfill all wishes and requests with the joint efforts", - said Ilsur Metshin.
