Due to the snowy winter, the municipal snow melting points
operate with a fourfold overload. In January, 75 thousand tons of snow were
moved to the points, and since the beginning of winter 450 thousand tons of
snow have been removed. Road services worked around the clock on holidays and
weekends. On average, 490 snow removal vehicles were involved in cleaning roads
per day. Employees of housing and utilities services enterprises were involved
as well. Over the holidays, over 160 thousand cubic meters of solid municipal garbage
were removed from the yards. Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, appreciated the
work of public utilities and road services during the holidays.
“In the beginning of January, almost 30% of the
monthly snowfall rate fell, but municipal organizations managed to cope with it
and didn’t allow the collapse. There are some complaints on sidewalk cleaning.
In general, property management companies and contractors coped with the task
of removing snow and garbage on holidays and weekends,”- the head of the city
noted today during a visit to the snow melting unit on Nesmelova street.
According to Igor Kulyazhev, Deputy head of the
Executive Committee, this winter turned out to be even snowy. “Contractors are
working in an enhanced mode for snow removal. There is a four–fold overload at
snow melting points, which is why workers do not have time to drown snow, snow
piles form at the station. But, they are coping with the situation,”- he said.
During the New Year holidays, 490 cleaning vehicle
were involved every day. In total, about 450 thousand tons of snow have been
removed since the beginning of the winter season, and 34 thousand tons of
deicing materials have been used. Snow is transported to 8 stationary snow
melting points, which have 14 chambers. Thanks to the opening of a new station
on Portovaya Street and a new chamber on Nesmelova street productivity of all
stations increased from 6.3 thousand tons to 8 thousand tons per day.
The point on Nesmelova street was reconstructed and
launched this winter. There are two chambers on the site, each of which melts
574 tons of snow per day.
Since the beginning of the winter season, 386 thousand
tons of snow have been accepted at snow melting points. The volumes are
comparable to those of the previous season, but more than 2 times the amount of
snow received during the same period in 2021. In addition, along with the snow,
garbage and sand, which is deposited in the chambers, will be moved to the snow
melting points. During the current season, 1,600 cubic meters of garbage were
removed and disposed of.
From December 30 to January 8, 160 thousand cubic
meters of solid garbage were removed from the territory of multi-apartment and
individual residential buildings. At the same time, the number of complaints
about garbage collection during the New Year holidays decreased by more than
four times compared to 2023.
