Kazan residents built a playground on the site of the former ravine

The territorial public self-government of Kazan have become the drivers of local transformations. Over the past five years, they have raised 50 million rubles of grant funds for the implementation of socially significant projects. In 2026, they have received grants for 14.5 million rubles. This money was allocated for the roads repair, development of the playgrounds and sports areas. The Mayor of Kazan, Ilsur Metshin, appreciated the effectiveness of cooperation between the city and public self-government during the off-site visit to the Starye Gorki residential area in the Privolzhsky city district.

The Mayor noted the importance of teamwork: «I appreciate such a wonderful initiative. The Rais of Tatarstan supports such projects in Tatarstan, and your project is an excellent example of effective cooperation: grant support, administration and personal activity of residents», – said Ilsur Metshin.

The Mayor noted the special atmosphere at the Starye Gorki residential area. «This is a large residential area here. We improve the roads and street lighting every year. This project is a good example of how active and caring residents create something valuable, such as this beautiful playground. The popularity of this place is obvious: young people gather here all the time. Thanks to people like you, Kazan is becoming more beautiful and comfortable», – said the Mayor.

The territorial self-government «Starye Gorki» unites 2,900 residents of 901 houses. The organization was established in February 2017. It regularly participates in the annual republican contest «The best territorial public self-government of the Republic of Tatarstan». In total, they won 1.3 million rubles in three years and used these funds to build a playground.

The project was implemented in several stages. It started with the initiative of a local resident, Ilfat Minnibaev: he used his personal funds to fill up a ravine where rainwater used to accumulate.

A playground was equipped here with sports equipment. The lighting was also replaced, benches and urns were installed.

Presently, the playground on Orenburgsky tract 81 it is fully equipped: there are slides, balance swings, a sandbox and a workout area.
