I. Metshin on the new aid point: “Anyone who is in trouble can come here”

Since January 2026, the Human Shelter aid center on Khalturina Street has provided 100,000 pieces of clothing to those in need. Presently, the project operates in six regions of Russia. More than 3,600 people receive hot meals every day at 43 aid points. The Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin visited the local shelter on Khalturina Street and got acquainted with its work. 

“Kazan is famous for its charity events, and the Human Shelter is a prime example. Today, 42 aid points are operating in six regions, where 3,600 people receive hot meals. Since 2018, it's already more than three million hot dinners! Anyone who is in trouble can come here. The city supports this work – in particular, we provide premises for expanding the network of points. It is important that we implement a comprehensive approach: this includes not only food, but also clothing, legal advice, overnight accommodation and assistance in employment,”- said Ilsur Metshin. 

The Mayor visited the facility at 10 Khalturina Street. In November 2024, the city handed it over to the Human Shelter for free. In May 2025, the facility with area of 304 square meters began operating after the renovation. Every day, 100-120 people visit the point, and not only from neighboring houses, but also come from other neighborhoods. The kitchen prepares up to 450 meals per day. 

Radik Sibgatullin, the head of the point, shared that people often come not for food, but also search for assistance in employment or clothing. Over the eight years of the project's operation, more than 3 million portions of hot food, about 300 thousand sets of clothes and over 21 thousand food packages were given. More than 78,000 people received temporary overnight accommodation, and about 12,000 people were employed.
