(KZN.RU, April 1, by Taisiya Basharkina) The Mayor of Tatarstan's capital Ilsur Metshin toured the city's main pedestrian street – Bauman Street. The Mayor inspected the general condition of structures along the way and assessed the progress of restoration work on the Gagayev House at 45 Bauman Street.
The restoration of the historical and cultural monument of local importance – the Gagaev House – built in the second half of the 19th century, is scheduled to be completed by early summer. Igor Matveyev, project director of the "EkspertProektStroy" company in charge of the restoration, told the Mayor that the builders were trying to preserve the original appearance of the house.
"It is important not to delay the restoration work because the tourist season will start soon. The house is right in front of the hotel Chaliapin, and this is the busiest part of the street. The main pedestrian street should look appropriately and be worthy of the capital status," said I. Metshin .
The Mayor paid particular attention to the placement of advertising and information signage. Ilsur Metshin stressed that advertising should not clutter up the facades of historical buildings. "The improvement regulations should be particularly strictly observed on Bauman and Peterburgskaya streets. We must not lose the appearance of historical buildings due to advertising hoardings," said the head of the city and requested the deputy head of the Executive Committee Ivan Kuznetsov to maintain order in this matter.
"You asked us to increase funds for the maintenance of pedestrian streets, and we have solved the financial question. Now there should be cleanliness 24 hours a day. Bauman and Peterburgskaya streets are the main tourist thoroughfares; it here that guests of the capital of Tatarstan begin their exploration of the city. Therefore, there must be perfect order in everything: advertising signs, hardscape, lighting and safety, " concluded I. Metshin.
