The new
gallery of contemporary art “Ink Gallery” opened in the capital of the RT.
Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, visited the first exhibition called “A
Human” consisting of 25 paintings by artist Igor Kalinauskas.
The artist
told the Mayor how his favorite painting “The Vision of the Holy City”
appeared, written in 2000 under the impression of a natural phenomenon, seen on
the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem. Then the clouds, the rain, and the sunshine
simultaneously converged in the sky.
“I want to
thank you for coming, I know a lot of people who have long wanted to see you
here”, I. Metshin said to the artist. “This is more than just an exhibition.
This is a serious event, not only in the cultural but also in the spiritual
life of our city. We hope that the energy we need will come here with your
works”.
“You
already have plenty of it”, answered Kalinauskas.
“There is
no such thing as enough referring to good energy”, remarked the Mayor
reasonably.
“Kazan is a
very dynamic city, and when I come here, fitting in this space, I always feel
it”, said the artist. “Therefore, regardless of physical well-being, I want to
do something here, move somehow. I wholeheartedly wish Kazan to remain so,
develop and not give into chaos, which has become too much”, he said and then
presented his books to the Mayor.
