(KZN.RU, May 9). On Victory Day, the All-Russian action of memory “Immortal Regiment” took place in Kazan. Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of the city, joined the march. This year, the action united 169 thousand people in Kazan who carried portraits of their relatives who contributed to the Great Victory through the central streets of the city.
The route of the “Immortal Regiment” went along the streets Karl Marks, Lobachevsky, the park “Chernoe Ozero” and Kremlevskaya Street.
Ilsur Metshin took part in the march with a portrait of his paternal grandfather Muzagit Metshin. He went through the whole war from the first days to the Victory in 1945, received 5 wounds and 2 contusions.
The Immortal Regiment is an all-Russian action to preserve the memory of the generation of the Great Patriotic War. Participants of the movement march the streets of cities with photos of their relatives on Victory Day every year.
