Mayor of Kazan: "Kazan University must be the first among federal universities"
Issues of obtaining a status of a federal university by Kazan State University have been discussed today at a business Monday session at Kazan Mayor’s Office.
“This event has become possible thanks to authority of Tatarstan President, prestige of the university and its faculty. It is a great success opening great opportunities. But it also is a huge layer of tasks,” mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin stated at the session.
From the mayor’s point of view, the task of Kazan and Tatarstan is to effectively realize the programme of developing a new educational centre – the Volga Federal University.
“We must become the first in realization of this programme among the 7 federal universities. Our region’s capital needs it in order to increase the population’s educational level, solve tasks listed in Kazan city’s strategy,” Ilsur Metshin emphasized.
For your information: according to Russian President’s Edict, the Volga Federal University will be founded on the basis of Kazan State University in the Volga Federal Region within 3 months. Tatar-inform
