KZN.RU, May 7). Today in the Tatar Academic State Opera and Ballet Theatre
named after M. Jalil a solemn event dedicated to the 71th anniversary of
Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 was held.
The
ceremony was attended by President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, State
Counsellor Mintimer Shaimiev, Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin and others. On the
feast hundreds of war veterans and home front workers from all over the republic
were invited.
Rustam
Minnikhanov addressed the audience and congratulated everyone on the 71th
anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. After thanking those who
won the war, as well as those who forged the victory in the rear, the meeting
honored the memory of those killed in the war years with a minute of silence.
After the
welcoming speech of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan Hero of the
Soviet Union, World War II veteran Boris Kuznetsov also made a speech. His
brilliant performance was greeted with a standing ovation. After the official
part artistic program was presented to the guests. Touching numbers, recalling
the ordeal endured by the country's share, brought tears to the eyes of many
spectators. The celebration ended with the song, which has become symbolic -
"Victory Day".
