(KZN.RU, March 7). Today, Rustam Minnikhanov, the President of the RT, held a working meeting on the placement of museum collections of the National Cultural Center “Kazan”. It was decided to create a new city museum in an empty building in Kazan on Bauman Street, №3.
Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, heads of the Ministry of Culture of the RT, Ministry of Construction, Architecture and Housing and Communal Services of the RT, Ministry of Land and Property Relations of the RT, reserve-museum Kazan Kremlin, and others attended the meeting.
The museum will appear in the building that previously served the city. This is a cultural heritage object “The building of the city magistrate, 1780, XIX century, architect A. Shmidt”.
“This will allow creating a real museum of the city, the Museum of Kazan, on the main pedestrian street and next to the metro and our main museums. This will help attract more tourists, increase attention to the history of ancient Kazan”, noted Rustam Minnikhanov at the meeting.
Olesya Baltusova, an Assistant to the President of the RT, reported on the development of museums in Kazan over the past five years. She told about museums where funds have already been invested in and that are in the process of repair and restoration work. She said about the plans for the development of the Museum of Fine Arts, in particular, the holding of exhibitions of the St. Petersburg Russian Museum there.
The question about empty premises in the center of Kazan, which causes bewilderment of the public and tourists, was discussed as well.
Rustam Minnikhanov instructed the supervising ministries to make an inventory and to make proposals for the placement of the exhibition center of the Russian Museum, reports the press service of the President of the RT.
“The exhibition center of the Russian Museum is a worthy object for our city and the republic”, said Rustam Minnikhanov. “We need to find the right place for it.”
The Kazan City Hall was entrusted to develop the concept of the city’s museum for the selected building.
