The increasing
of the tourist flow to 5 million people by 2030 is an achievable goal, the
Mayor of the capital of Tatarstan Ilsur Metshin believes. This number will not adversely
affect the infrastructure of the city, he answered the question of the
editor-in-chief of Tatar-Inform Agency Rinat Bilalov at the press conference on
the results of the year.
“We will keep
the golden mean, when tourists please and at the same time do not bring
problems for residents. We want tourists to create benefit for the city, while Kazan
residents continue living in a comfortable and safe city," the Mayor
added.
I.Metshin reminded
that 460 thousand tourists visited Kazan in the year of celebration of the millennium
of the city. In 2019, the city reached a record of 3.5 million tourists. Over 2,251,000
tourists visited Kazan in the first half of 2022.
A tourism
development program will be created to achieve the new goal of 5 million
tourists. For reference, the head of the city instructed to develop a program at
the final session of the Kazan City Duma this year. “It is necessary to
increase the tourist flow, 5 million is an achievable goal. It will not
adversely affect the infrastructure,”- I. Metshin said.
According to
him, the new program will be discussed with experts, there are no trifles in
this work, the Mayor believes. For example, now tourists spend mainly 2-3 days
in the city. “We need appropriate services on tourist routes, so tourists can
stay for a longer period,”- I. Metshin said.
