The name of Fyodor
Chaliapin was immortalized in Kazan. A memorial plaque was installed on the
facade of the Lisitsin-Emelin house (10 Pushkin Street), where the opera singer
was born. The Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, Chief of Staff of
the Office of Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Asgat Safarov, Mayor of Kazan Ilsur
Metshin, Tatarstan Minister of Culture Irada Ayupova and others took part in
the event.
Speaking to the
participants of the ceremony, the Rais of Tatarstan reminded that 150th
anniversary of the birth of Fyodor Chaliapin was celebrated that day. On this
occasion, educational, musical, scientific and theatrical events are held in
Tatarstan, one of them is the unveiling of a memorial plaque.
“We remember and
honor the memory of the great singer. The Chaliapin Opera Festival is held
annually, one of the streets of the capital bears his name. The monument to
Fyodor Chaliapin on Bauman Street has become a symbol of the city,”- R.
Minnikhanov noted.
The author of
the bronze plaque is the sculptor Timofey Tyurin.
