Today, the
Kazan City Hall hosted a meeting of the Mayor of the capital of the republic of
Tatarstan Ilsur Metshin with Konstantin Khabensky, the director of the Chekhov Moscow
Art Theater. They discussed joint projects, including the upcoming tour of the
theater to the capital of Tatarstan.
“A tour of
the small form of the Art Theater is planned in December. These are
performances staged in a small format: for 200-300, maximum 400 spectators. I
don't want to stage such performances at large venues. And I want to share a
very high–quality product with Kazan,”- Konstantin Khabensky told the portal
KZN.RU after the meeting.
He reminded
that last year in Kazan the theater “tested a large venue”. On the stage of the
Tatar State Academic Theater performance “Cyrano de Bergerac” was shown to the
Kazan audience, and on the stage of the Tatar Academic State Opera and Ballet
Theater named after Musa Jalil a performance “Lies, or the Will of Baron
Munchausen”. Now the theater will test a small stage, which is not chosen yet.
In Kazan,
the Moscow Art Theater will show two performances from its new repertoire. The
first is “Winnie-the-Pooh Readings”. "This is a performance by Zhenya
Grishkovets, which he has been creating for about ten years. In December, he
made a performance, now we will run–in and we will bring it to Kazan,”-
Khabensky said.
The second
work of the Moscow Art Theater on the Kazan stage is the play “Duel” directed
by Anton Yakovlev. The play shows a constant duel either with himself or with
someone, the poster says. The play takes place in the Caucasus, where random
people are united by time and space. Nobody knows anybody. Someone is looking
for the meaning of life, someone is just trying to live.
Another
topic for discussion between Ilsur Metshin and Konstantin Khabensky was a joint
project that is not limited to the theater stage. Its main matter will be the
family, the main human values.
