From December 31 to January 8, 169 thousand tourists visited the capital
of the republic of Tatarstan. The average load of the hotel during this period
was 77%, and on 3 - 5 January it reached 90%. This was announced at the staff
meeting by Daria Sannikova, director of the Tourism Development Committee of Kazan.
“Hotel occupancy by 90% is certainly a good rate, it shows the interest
in Kazan. On the other hand, it shows that there are holidays and weekends,
including in summer and winter, when there are catastrophically lack of hotels.
The resolution of this issue should not be postponed,”- said Mayor Ilsur
Metshin.
“Now we need to start preparing a schedule of spring and summer events,
competently coordinate the events, necessarily in dialogue with the tourism
business. It is important to have occasions to attract new tourists to Kazan.
This year, tourists will be able to visit major international events, for
example, the BRICS Games in June,” the Mayor noted.
In the structure of the tourist and excursion flow, about 59% were
occupied by tourists from the regions of Russia, 41% – municipalities of
Tatarstan.
During the New Year holidays, Kazan was visited by tourists from 83
regions of the country. Mainly the tourists were from Moscow, Mari El,
Bashkortostan, Chuvashia and the Ulyanovsk region. From Tatarstan, the capital
of the republic was mainly visited by residents of Naberezhnye Chelny,
Zelenodolsk, Nizhnekamsk and Almetyevsk districts.
Among the visitors of the city, more than half – 56% – were women, men
–44%. Kazan has become the most in demand for recreation among people of mature
age – 57%. Another 32% of tourists were young people, 11% were pensioners and
representatives of the pre-retirement age.
“The abnormally cold weather that set in Kazan during the holidays changed
the plans of guests and residents of the city, which also affected the
attendance rates of tourist sites,”- the speaker stressed.
Despite the frosts, tourists spent almost 1 billion rubles over the New
Year holidays – transactions for more than 916 million rubles were carried out
by non-cash payment.
Traditionally, the most popular touristic site was the Kazan Kremlin
Museum-Reserve, which was visited by 168 thousand people. This is 10 thousand
less than in 2023.
Tourists also visited the interactive museum “City Panorama”. 3,481
people decided to look at the exhibits, which is 45% more than in the same
period last year. Another 1.4 thousand visitors are interested in the chak-chak
Museum.
The Kyshdakar-fest festival was also popular among tourists. This
season, it unfolded at two sites: on Baumana Street and in the Kirov Garden.
Customers could get acquainted with farm products, handmade items and
decorations at 20 fair houses. Over 11 days, the festival was attended by more
than 30 thousand people.
