Ilsur Metshin: «Floral decorations are a feature of Kazan, which is very popular among citizens and visitors of the capital»

The construction of the new Gorvodzelenkhoz greenhouse complex is nearing completion. Annually, 2.5 million different flowers will be grown here, which is 2.5 times more than in the previous facility. Thirty-five varieties of petunias, salvias, celsias, carnations, marigolds and, of course, tulips will be grown here. The Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin held a meeting at the site where workers have begun installing six different irrigation systems, installing shutters and laying 17.5 thousand meters of heating pipes.

The new modern greenhouse complex will significantly increase the amount of landscaping in the city. The area of the greenhouses under construction is 11.5 square meters, which is almost twice the size of the previous ones. This increased area and advanced greenhouse equipment allow to grow almost 2.5 times more flowers – 2.5 million compared to 1.1 million before.

«One of the main priorities of the city administration is landscaping and gardening, including floral decoration. This is a feature of Kazan, which is popular among residents and visitors of the capital. Technology continues to evolve, including in landscaping, we have decided to build new greenhouses. We will not only nearly double the size of our greenhouses and increase the number of seedlings by 2.5 times, but we will also utilize new technologies to cultivate perennial and annual flowers. Most importantly, we will have special facility for growing flower seedlings so that we can plant as many annual and perennial flowers on the streets and boulevards of our city as possible», – said the Mayor.

Work on the construction of the greenhouse complex began last spring and is scheduled to be completed shortly. These greenhouses were built using modern technologies and were funded by the city budget.

In autumn, specialists from Gorvodzelenkhoz will begin planting tulips. Around 30 to 35 different flower varieties will be planted in January, including petunias, salvias, ageratu, cinerarias, begonias, zinnias, celosias, carnations, marigold, and other plants.

For reference, Gorvodzelenkhoz organized work on preserving the green spaces in the city and landscaping its streets and parks. Last summer, the company decorated 84 streets in Kazan with flowers, covering an area of 15 thousand square meters. Over 2,000 flower pots were installed along the main roads, and more than 24,500 petunia flowers were used to create beautiful compositions. Additionally, 68 floral structures were installed near sports venues and in various parts of the city.
