Over the past five years, the number of traffic accidents in Kazan has decreased by more than 20% and the number of deaths has declined 16%. In 2025, police officers ensured safety at more than 2,000 city events. Three new police stations were opened to improve the work of internal affairs officers. This was reported at an operational meeting on the results of the work of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for Kazan. Despite the growth in the number of vehicles, the number of traffic accidents on the roads has decreased in the city, Kazan Mayor Ilsur Metshin said at an operational meeting.
«In Kazan, despite the growth in the number of vehicles, there is a constant trend on improving road safety: over the past 5 years, the number of traffic accidents has decreased by more than 20%, and the number of deaths has declined 16%», – the Mayor said.
He noted that the modernization of the road transport network included in the Master Plan of the city remains a strategic priority until 2040.
«It is important that this work is not limited to plans – we are already seeing concrete, tangible results of the implementation of this document», – Ilsur Metshin said.
Last year, more than 21 billion rubles were allocated for the repair and construction of Kazan's road transport network under the national project “Safe and Quality Roads” and the program of the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan “Our Yard”, the Mayor reported.
