Preparations for the 2028 World Nomad Games are beginning in Kazan. According to the Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin, hosting the Games in Kazan will be another gesture of trust for the team of the city and the republic.
Ilsur Metshin thanked Russian President Vladimir Putin for the decision and noted that the city’s experience in organizing major international events allowed receiving the right to host the competition.
“This is another gesture of trust for us, the continuation of our work. Our successful experience in hosting international events allows competing for such projects,”- Ilsur Metshin said.
The Mayor emphasized that preparations for the Games would give an additional impetus to the development of Kazan's sports infrastructure and tourism industry.
Ilsur Metshin noted the uniqueness of the sports program of the Games. It includes traditional sports of the peoples of the world, which will preserve and popularize national sports traditions.
"It is hard to overestimate the scale of another international project, but for us it is not only an infrastructure project. This is a return to our traditions. The competition program includes our traditional sports, so it is very important that we cultivate and preserve them over the years,”- said the Mayor of Kazan.
He noted that the experience of holding major events allowed forming a strong team of organizers in the city, including volunteers.
“For us, this is not only an opportunity for athletes from Kazan and the whole of Russia to participate in international competitions. Such international projects increase the skills of our organizers. The most important thing is the legacy. We have experience, a strong team, and we are starting preparations. Serious but very interesting tasks awaiting us in the future,”- Ilsur Metshin said.
