(KZN.RU, November 13, by Ekaterina Andreyeva) Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin met today with the head of the Russian Imperial House, Grand Duchess Maria Vladimirovna Romanova.
Maria Vladimirovna noted that since her last visit to the capital of Tatarstan the city has dramatically changed for the better. Maria Romanova also stressed that Kazan has always been distinguished by the fact that several religions coexist here peacefully. "I'm happy to see that people have respect for each other," she said.
"This is the most precious thing that we have," confirmed the Mayor and reminded that Tatarstan is home to about 100 ethnic groups and nationalities. "Everyone who comes in Kazan is struck by the fact that Orthodox and Catholic churches, mosques and synagogues stand in close proximity to each other," said I. Metshin.
