(KZN.RU, November 27, by Renat Shirmanov) Kazan Mayor Ilsur Metshin planted the 100,000th tree under the "Green record" project launched in the fall of 2012 on his own initiative.
A signature alley, which became the "home run" of the greening campaign for this year, beautified the area adjacent to the newly opened family center "Kazan".
The large-scale urban greening project "Green Record" is truly unprecedented. Suffice it to say that before its start, the annual number of trees planted was 8-14 thousand, mostly saplings rather than large-sized ones.
The Kazan Mayor thanked all the companies that participated in the planting of trees and shrubs. "Green Record" is a project which has involved everybody: residents, students, environmental community and more than 150 enterprises. "I want to thank all the participants. However, planting 100,000 trees is only a beginning. I think in the next two seasons, we will up the bar set earlier and plant more than 200 thousand trees," said the Mayor.
