(KZN.RU, February 27, by Renat Shirmanov). The Museum of the Millennium, located in the cultural center "Kazan", plans to exhibit personal belongings of a capital of Tatarstan native, the great opera singer Feodor Chaliapin. The museum itself intends to reorganize in accordance with modern international standards, which will make it a major attraction for all tourists visiting the capital of the republic. This idea was expressed by Kazan Mayor Ilsur Metshin, who visited the museum.
The Millennium Museum was established in 2005. Occupying an area of 3,300 square meters, its three halls display interesting archaeological finds, ethnographic items and rare sources. The exhibition reflects the entire history of Kazan, ranging from the ancient to contemporary stage of development of the capital of Tatarstan.
Ilsur Metshin toured the exhibition and suggested that it would be a good idea to turn it into a museum of Kazan, which would be an attraction for all tourists. According to the Mayor, all visitors could start their acquaintance with the capital of Tatarstan with the museum of Kazan, but it would be necessary to equip it in accordance with modern international standards.
The museum employees noted that one of the possibilities to increase interest in the museum might be the creation of a music room featuring personal belongings of the great opera singer Feodor Chaliapin. The Millennium Museum has 67 unique items from the opera singer's personal archive donated by the well-known Chaliapin chronicler Yuri Kotlyarov.
