Today on "Business Monday" in the City Mayor's Office the problem of training future champions was discussed.
The reason for discussion was the outcome of the current Olympic Games in Vancouver and preparation for the future Universiade in Kazan.
Mayor was outraged: - According to statistics in Kazan sports schools 836 coaches whose average age exceeds 50 years work. And only 12 teachers last year came to work in the sports school immediately after graduation! Of course, young people are not tempted with a salary of 6 thousand rubles.
Ilsur Metshin lamented the fact that the sports sections are mainly paid.
- Olympics showed that the athletes need the support of the goverment, its impossible to bring up a champion on his own money- said the Mayor.- Today we are opening the next object of the Universiade, the complex "Olympiets"at the Gorky Highway. We hope that it will serve as a good base for training of athletes.
