Ilsur Metshin: "The weather could bring any surprises"

(KZN.RU, December 13, Renat Shirmanov). Abundant snowfall paralyzed traffic on the roads of Kazan must be a lesson for city services and the prevention of recurrence of such emergencies must be the result of coordinated work of the Executive Committee of the city. Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan has announced about it on today’s Business Monday.

 “First of all we need to specify in details all of our omissions. This is done not to blame somebody but to prevent recurrence of the situation. Each service: STSI, Ministry of Emergency Situations, management companies, the Committee of Accomplishment, Department of Health, warning means – every person has to know exactly who and what is required to do”, Ilsur Metshin said.

According to the Mayor the response to heavy snowfall followed too late that became one of the causes of traffic jams on the roads of the capital. “The blocks caused considerable inconveniences for the citizens of Kazan including tardiness for work. And this is our fault. Yes, we have not encountered with such natural disasters before. However the abnormal heat during summer and the same anomalous snowfall talk about certain processes in nature. We must be prepared for anything” the Mayor of Kazan said.

According Ilsur Metshin it is necessary to develop a clear plan of interaction of urban services in case of similar situations. “Every head of the district each business that won the tender on accomplishment, and others should know how to act in the rush hour. Everyone should be prepared that weather can bring any surprises. A quick prevention of consequences should be a result of well-coordinated work of the Executive Committee”, the Mayor summed up noting that a personal responsibility for this lies with Alexei Pesoshin, the Head of the Executive Committee and Alexander Lobov, his Deputy for Housing and Public Works.
