(Kazan City KZN.RU, December 24, Adelia Galieva). New Gallery of Modern Art «INK Gallery» for unusual chamber exposures opened in Kazan. Creative leader Igor Kalinauskas presented his work to the first visitors of the gallery at st. Mushtari, 19. The Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin visited the opening of the exhibition "Man", spoke with the author of pictures and supported the idea of creating a new art space.
Igor Kalinauskas is an honorary member of the Russian Academy of Arts, the author of more than 1,000 paintings, which at different times were exhibited in France, Germany, USA, Switzerland, Great Britain, Italy, Moscow and St. Petersburg. INK is stage name of the artist, who is also known as the scientist-philosopher, a writer, a practicing psychologist, singer, theater director. Most of his paintings are in private collections in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Samara, Vilnius, but especially for the exhibition in Kazan fans decided to give it for some time to coordinators of the exposure. 25 works by Igor Kalinauskas are exhibited in two small rooms of the new gallery.
Evening of the opening gathered a lot of visitors - both longtime fans of Igor Kalinauskas’ many talents and those who are just discovering his name. Thus, among the visitors of the exhibition the head of the Executive Committee of the city Denis Kalinkin, deputy head of the municipality of Kazan Evgeniya Lodvigova, Head of the Department of Culture Aigul Gornysheva, Russian poet and prose writer, screenwriter Denis Osokin, and many others can be seen.
The artist presented his favorite works to the head of the city, including painting "The vision of the sacred city". It is a landscape-scale picture written under the impressions of a natural phenomenon, which occurred on Christmas Day of 2000 in Jerusalem - then clouds, rain and sunlight illuminating the mountain appeared at the sky at the same time. Also the artist presented a series of works, which depict the natural elements and a series "Portrait of the essence". As it was noted by visitors, paintings of I.Kalinauskas are a vivid example of how the minimalism of form can be combined with and maximalism of color.
"I want to thank you. I know that many of Kazan residents wanted to see you and your works. This is more than just an exhibition; it is an important event not only in culture but also in the spiritual life of our city. We hope that with your works the required energy will come to our city, "- Mayor of Kazan appealed to the artist.
"You have a lot of your own! Kazan is a very dynamic city, arriving here, embedding into your space, I always feel it, always want to do something to move forward "- Igor Kalinauskas noted in response and, in turn, thanked the head of the city for the attention and indifferent attitude to the development of contemporary art.
According to the coordinator of the gallery Laysan Tsvetkova, Kazan residents can visit the exhibition until February 29. "But the gallery is not a mono-project, young and talented authors, who want to express themselves, but do not yet have this capability, will be exhibited there. If they have a fire of creativity, charge of positive, the inner spark, we are open to them,"- she said. In addition, as it was noted by the initiators of the art space, in the gallery regular events - public lectures, film screenings, meetings, discussions, presentations of books, psychological workshops and master classes are planned. "This is our gift to the beloved city," - the project coordinator said.
