(Kazan City
KZN.RU, March 2, Ekaterina Andreeva). City authorities do not support the
increase in the cost of travel in the passenger public transport to 28 rubles.
This was announced today during the program "Theme" on TV "Efir"
by the Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin.
Question of
increase of fares was one of the discussions not only on today's evening program,
but also in most of the media and social networks. The premise was carriers’
collective appeal addressed to the Mayor of Kazan, the Minister of Transport
and Roads of the Republic of Tatarstan and Chairman of RT Tariff Committee. Carriers
are demanding higher fares in public transport up to 28 rubles. The emphasis on
growth transporters do at the cost of parts and fuel, for which losses of
enterprises are rising. The letter also notes that the rates have not changed
since February 2014, and preferential categories of citizens travel for five
years at the same prices.
Mayor of
Kazan Ilsur Metshin noted that the decision to increase tariffs can be only
accepted by the RT State Committee on tariffs. "But now I can say that we
cannot agree to such an increase, because it is ahead of inflation", - said
the head of the city. He also added that on 3 March in the Executive Committee
of Kazan a working meeting on the issue of tariff increases involving all
stakeholders will be held. "Tomorrow we will meet, listen to all the
arguments", - I. Metshin said.
The Mayor
said that in Kazan a major reform of the transport was conducted, when "Gazelle"
and “PAZ” were replaced by clean large buses. But the park also needs to be
updated periodically. "We want the quality service for our people. We want
more people to use public transport, so it should be not only safe, high-quality,
but also affordable,"- the Mayor said.
Ilsur
Metshin noted the importance and complexity of the upcoming conversation with
carriers. "We will report back to the citizens with what decision we will
go to the Committee on tariffs", - the head of the city said.
