Boarding School №2 is one of the most prestigious schools in Kazan with in-depth studies in sciences and mathematics. Over the past three years, students of the school have become prize winners in international Olympiads more than 20 times. Half of the last year’s graduates were able to enter universities without passing exams. The teachers create a friendly and welcoming atmosphere, but there is still room for improvement in terms of living conditions. Gimran Abdullin, a two-time gold medal winner in the International Olympiad in Informatics and a student of the school, hosted a tour for the Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin around the campus.
The residential campus on Bakaleinaya Street was built in 1973 and underwent renovation in 2019. According to Gimran Abdullin, today the residential building cannot accommodate all students. The design capacity is 80 people, but there are over 180 students living in the building.
The students wake up at 6:30 and clean their rooms before going to school. After school, they return to the dorm and have free time for homework and extra activities.
In the lobby, students spend their free time after classes and can play table tennis, brain - ring games, musical battles, and funny games. Educators also organize tea parties for students. There is a dining room in the residence building with 40 seats, and parents are also welcome to join them.
After the tour, Bulat Giniyatullin, the director of boarding school, said that 325 talented children from 22 districts of Tatarstan and 11 other regions of Russia are currently attending the school. Forty-five experienced teachers work with these students, preparing them for Olympiads. Classes are organized in interest-based clubs.
According to the results of the Unified State Exam in mathematics and Russian language in 2023, the school has entered the list of the best schools in Kazan. Moreover, half of its graduates were able to enroll in university without entrance exams due to their achievements in science competitions.
«You achieve the best results in the entire Tatarstan», – said Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, and promised to personally monitor the improvement of living conditions for school students.
Boarding School №2 was founded in 1992, since then 1,400 students have graduated it. These graduates entered best universities in Russia, as well as in Dubai, China, Vienna, Hong Kong, and Malaysia.
The graduates have formed the Charity Fund «Family 2», which they use to finance various projects at their former school. Through this fund, they have been able to equip sports ground, purchase servers and tables for their computer science classroom, as well as provide 20 laptops to teachers.
