A number of festive events will take place in the capital of the republic of Tatarstan in honor of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. Guzel Sagitova, Deputy Head of the Executive Committee, announced this at the 37th session of the Kazan City Duma.
The memory of the Great Patriotic War is more than just a page in history, it is a moral guide for the future. «In the turbulent 90s, they tried to impose different values and create a negative perception of the word “patriotism”. However, today, as seen by our soldiers on the front lines, patriotism has been embedded deep in our genes and no external influence can change that. Our duty is to pass on our love for the Homeland to our children and grandchildren so that the values of unity and bravery remain unchanged», – said the Mayor of Kazan.
The Mayor noted that the city is actively preparing for the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory and plans a large number of commemorative events. «This year we must feel a special sense of awe and gratitude for those who through long and hard work forged Victory in the Great Patriotic War. Each of us can contribute to preserving the memory of the Great Patriotic War», – Ilsur Metshin said. He emphasized that there are various ways to honor heroes: helping veterans, participating in commemorative events, studying history, and sharing the stories of our ancestors with children and grandchildren.
«The Year of the Defender of the Homeland is dedicated not only to veterans of the Great Patriotic War, but also to those who have participated in special operations and those who have stood up for their country. We are doing our best and will continue to do our part to support them and their families», – Ilsur Metshin noted.
The 80th anniversary of the city will be celebrated under the slogan «Honor of Kazan. Glory to Victory». A festive parade will be held at the walls of the Kazan Kremlin. Commemorative events will take place in Victory Park and other public spaces of the city center.
Patriotic work becomes especially valuable for children and young people. More than 20,000 events are planned for them throughout the year, including contests, quests, writing letters to soldiers, training camps, meetings with veterans, and concerts.
Educational establishments actively participate in the Russian campaigns – Immortal Regiment, St. George Ribbon, Garden of Memory, Dictation of Victory. This year, new projects have been created to honor the heroes. During the Gardens of Memory event, an apple orchard will be planted in memory of the defenders of the Homeland.
