For the first time, Kazan hosted the Russian Tennis
Federation President's Cup. In the final stage, two teams with the best players
in three age groups among boys and girls met at the Kazan Tennis Academy. The
winning teams were awarded with cups and diplomas. The awards ceremony was
attended by Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, and Shamil Tarpishchev, the
President of the Russian Tennis Federation.
«After seeing the tournament, we have confidence in the
future of tennis in Russia. You are at the beginning of your journey, but you have
achieved great results. We have to thank your parents for supporting you and
the coaches who work with you on the court», – the Mayor said.
The tournament is being held for the second year in a
row, but Kazan is hosting it for the first time. To select teams for the
tournament, at the beginning of the year the 50 best players from the Russian
Tennis Tour's rating among boys and girls aged 13, 15, and 17 were divided into
10 teams, with five players of each gender in each team, and the same age.
Throughout the year, these tennis players gained points in different competitions.
The top two teams enter the final round to compete for
the title of champion. In the final stage, there are three singles matches and
two doubles matches. The tournament winner is determined by the player with the
highest number of points. The team captain determines the composition of
players for each match.
Seventy-two athletes from 12 teams competed in the
finals in Kazan. In the girls' under 13 category, team №7 won. The team
includes Vera Yamina (Kazan), Greta Karnetsian, Maria Terpelyuk, and Arina
Syroezhkina, with Anton Kratyuk as captain. The youth team № 10 won in the same
age group. Ivan Sinyakov, Maxim Sologdin, Konstantin Petrov, and Zakhar
Shchaya-Zubrov played for the team, with Timur Kiyamov – a captain.
In the under 15 girls' category, team № 5 became a
winner with players Elizaveta Nalesnik, Sofia Ogirchuk, and Lidiya Fadeeva and
Aleksandra Barmicheva. They were led by the captain, Dmitry Sitnikov.
In the boys' under15 category, team № 4 won the title.
The team includes David Valeev from Kazan, Dmitry Shchelokov, Maxim Sobolev,
Daniil Karpenko, and Yaroslav Begansky. The captain of this team was Alexander
Kostanov.
The girls' team № 1 became the best in the under 17
age category. It includes Rada Zolotareva, Marta-Maria Makarova, Ekaterina
Agureeva, Alexandra Khomitskaya, Anna Mogilko. Oksana Mishukova was the
captain.
In the same age category, the youth team № 10 became
the winner with players Philipp Dolotov, Artyom Semyonov, German Samogorodsky,
Timur Dautov, Pavel Skvortsov. The captain was Ivan Pridankin.
