The meeting took place at the inclusive center «Everything for Children». At the opening of the event, Mayor Ilsur Metshin expressed his gratitude to Daliya Gainanova, Deputy of the Kazan City Duma and head of the center, who is raising a child with special needs, for hosting the event. Approximately 30 women attended the event. The Mayor promised to support the community of mothers of children with special needs, which currently consists of 500 members, and presented Daliya Gainanova with a 100,000 rubles certificate.
«I remember our first meeting. It was emotionally difficult. As the head of the city, I am representing the entire country for people. Today we will discuss what else should be done», – the Mayor said, addressing the audience.
The center has a coworking space, children's room, psychologist's office, and sewing workshop. Mothers come here to communicate and work, leaving their children under the supervision of specialists. They participate in master classes and receive legal and psychological assistance.
Kristina Rassypninskaya, a mother of twins with cerebral palsy, attended a center and founded dancing classes. She found a kindergarten that offers preschool education and rehabilitation for children with the same condition. The kindergarten is currently attended by 16 children. «The changes happened because we came here. Working with psychologists has been a big support, because nothing works when you're depressed», – Kristina said.
To date, 40 club members are actively involved in various activities. Daliya Gainanova asked for assistance in creating a place outside the city for family gatherings. The idea was well-received by the Mayor, who suggested using the infrastructure of municipal camps as an alternative. The first events are planned to take place in February or March.
Daliya Gainanova appealed to the Mayor for support the competition throughout the country, but with the condition that it will be held in Kazan. This year, 35 mothers of children with disabilities applied to participate in the competition. Twenty-two participants reached the final, and Kazan was represented by 14 women.
The women also asked for the invitation of mothers of children with disabilities to educational events organized by the Kazan Mayor’s Office. The Mayor promised to support this initiative: «There is the Made in Kazan project with businessmen, leaders, young people and the best experts. The next forum will take place in spring, we can make one of its sections inclusive. We will provide open access and broadcasting so that everyone can participate and watch».
The Mayor congratulated the women on the upcoming New Year and expressed his best wishes for their success: «Today, I have heard some very inspiring stories from all of you. I am honored to lead a city with such wonderful women. Each of you deserves gratitude and admiration».
