(KZN.RU, July 27, by Taisiya Basharkina). A fitness center on Dubravnaya Street in the Gorki-3 residential area will appear for the 2013 Universiade. The future sports ground was visited by Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin.
Currently, it houses a small ski lodge "Dubravnaya” with a ski rental and a small area used for a skating rink in winter. However, in terms of equipment and facilities, it falls short of what is expected in the sports capital of Russia.
It is planned to provide lighting for the trails, and the area will be equipped with video surveillance; modern rental skis and comfortable dressing rooms will become available. "The main thing is to make it accessible to all visitors, so that everyone could go skiing in winter and ride a bike summer, play volleyball or soccer on the court with a special coating or just walking in the woods," said I. Metshin.
Thus, plans to turn the area into a multifunctional playground, where you will be able to play seasonal sports throughout the year: skiing in winter; bike riding, volleyball, soccer and hiking in summer. Besides, a boxing gym "Ali", with an auditorium seating 350 and 150 and 200 sq.m training halls, is to be built.
There may also be a parking lot for 100-150 cars.
The construction is scheduled to be completed by the 2013 Universiade.
