Additional elections of the deputies of the Kazan City Duma for the Severny №1 and Arbuzovsky №21 single-mandate constituencies passed without violations. Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, expressed hope that the new people's representatives will join the activities of the standing commissions and quickly catch up on the work.
The elections were held yesterday, on September 9. 7919 people attended the voting in the Severny district, or 20.8% of the total number of voters on the list. The victory went to self-promoted Ilgiz Ahmetzyanov, who collected 51.7% of the vote. Sergey Abramin of the LDPR gained 5.9% of the vote, Rafael Galeev from the Communist Party – 13.3%, Andrey Galyashev from the party “Just Russia” – 5.7%, and Sergey Zaitsev from the “Communists of Russia” had 20.6% of the vote.
5577 people took part in the voting on the Arbuzovsky district, or 13.8% of the total number of voters on the list. Self-promoted Evgeny Chekashov won there. 68.3% of voters voted for him. Almir Aleev from the Communist Party won 16.08% of the vote, Almaz Sabirov from the LDPR – 7.06%, Ruzal Shamsutdinov from the “Just Russia” – 5.8% of the vote.
“The elections went well, without violations of the electoral legislation. Thanks to the well-coordinated work of all the participants in the electoral process, the necessary conditions were created at the polling stations in Kazan for the free expression of the citizens’ will”, said Farit Garaev, the chairman of the Election Commission of Kazan. He thanked everyone who participated in the preparation and conduct of the additional elections.
The Mayor thanked the district administrations for their organizational work. “This is always a burden for the district and election commissions. It is important that the additional elections were held in compliance with the current legislation on an alternative basis. Once again the opinions of our voters were heard. I ask you to take this into account”, he said. “I hope that the new people's deputies will quickly enter into the course of the matter, will show productive work in the interests of the voters. The work of the standing commissions is speeding up after the summer holidays in the Kazan City Duma. It is necessary that they also get involved in the work”.
