(KZN.RU, March 4). Today, as part of visiting Kazan’s sports facilities, Rustam Minnikhanov, the President of the RT, inspected the overhauled judo center “Batyr”. Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, and Vladimir Leonov, the minister of Sports of the RT, also took part in the inspection of the center. Earlier Rustam Minnikhanov told Vladimir Putin, the President of Russia, about the large-scale reconstruction of the sports complex during his visit to Tatarstan in February of this year.
During a visit to the sports complex, the President of the RT inspected the repaired sambo and judo halls and gym. He attended the training session of the republican national judo team, headed by coach Vladimir Drachko. The wrestlers thanked Rustam Minnikhanov for the repair of the sports center and showed their skills during demonstration performances.
The President of the RT spoke with the coaching staff, as well as with young athletes and their parents. “When children do sports, we don’t have to worry about them. Here, they are in a sports team where there are partnership and support”, the press service of the President of the RT quotes Rustam Minnikhanov.
The sports complex began operation in 1985. For several decades, it hosted numerous trainings and competitions in sambo, judo, and other sports. In 2018, the facility had been overhauled, and classes were resumed on February 5, 2019. The roof was replaced, the facade was repaired, the entrance groups were completed, internal finishing works were carried out, utilities were replaced, furniture in the locker rooms was renewed, and the surrounding area was refurbished as part of the overhaul.
The total area of the building today is 4025 square meters. There is a large hall with three carpets and 360 seats for spectators on the ground floor. It is a special pride of the complex and the sports school, because the main team of the RT trains here, as well as seven students who are part of the Russian team in various kinds of martial arts. About 60 people can train in the hall at the same time.
The complex is also equipped with separate halls for sambo and judo, a sauna, changing rooms with showers, a buffet, a wardrobe, a massage room, and other rooms. In addition, a modern gym was equipped with about 100 exercise machines. Moreover, it is available for training for both judo and sambo wrestlers, students of the republican sports school, and for residents of nearby areas.
Today 849 people are engaged in a sports school. They are coached by a professional team along with the head coach of the junior team of Russia. In total, the coaching staff of the complex has 23 people: 13 of them are judo coaches, 10 ones are Sambo coaches.
