Kazan residents to choose names of new subway stations
(KZN.RU, April 2, by Renat Shirmanov) The names of the subway stations under construction will be chosen after discussion with the residents of the city. This was announced by Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin at today’s Business Monday.
Currently, the Kazan Metro is 12.21km long and has seven stations. After the completion of three other stations, the total length will amount to 17.3 km, and the ride from Prospekt Pobedy to Aviastroitelny district will take 20 minutes. With the commissioning of the three stations, the number of passengers is estimated to reach 200,000 people a day.
Work is proceeding at the second stretch of the subway. "We all look forward to the completion of the three new stations and to further expansion of the subway. The Metro is an integral part of urban transport infrastructure. For the first time, the Kazmetrostroy drilling machine bored through 917 meters in a month - an absolute record. I congratulate the whole team on this historic achievement," Ilsur Metshin said to Marat Rakhimov.
