Ilsur Metshin and Marina Patyashina look around a new disinfection station in Kazan
A new disinfection station opened in Kazan – this is the first facility of
this type that has been built in Russia over the past 20 years. The Mayor of
Kazan Ilsur Metshin and Marina Patyashina, head of Tatarstan Department of
Rospotrebnadzor (Federal Service on Protection Consumer Rights), looked around
the station on Dementieva Street today.
“Previous disinfection station was located in a dilapidated building on
Karl Marx Street, built in 1928. The working conditions were unsuitable. The
decision was made on construction a new building. We have carefully examined the
project to ensure that there is everything necessary for a professional and
prompt response to any challenges of the pandemic”, - the Mayor said.
M.Patyashina noted that the work of the disinfection station is not
noticeable at first view, but it is very important because the specialists of
the institution are working to prevent the spread of infectious diseases.
The visitors conducted a short tour of the station – the new two-storey
building has a total area of 1,480 sq.m. They looked around the gateway, the
disinfection quality control laboratory and the disinfection room.
As I.Metshin was told, the disinfection station conducts treatment of sites
of infections: at home, in work collectives, schools, kindergartens. Specialists
are also engaged in preventive treatment of territories. “When people go to the
park, they are sure that it is safe there. It is true, because the specialists
of the station conduct treatment from mites, rodents and mosquitoes. In order
to prevent malaria, water reservoirs in the center and settlements of Kazan are
also treated for mosquitoes”, - the chief sanitary doctor of the republic
According to A.Bikeyev, the station is also engaged in the preparation of
major events in the city. The specialists carried out treatment during the
Universiade, FINA and FIFA championships, as well as the WorldSkills
championship. “The pandemic has made significant adjustments to our work. We
work 24 hours a day. Since the beginning of the pandemic, our medical team has
completed more than 3 thousand applications related to the spread of
coronavirus infection”, - he said.
I.Metshin noted that it is crucial to prevent the spread of rodents in the
