In Kazan, the reconstruction
of the retaining wall on Bulak on the site from Parizhskoy Kommuny Street to Tatarstan
street will be completed in early September, now it is 80% completed. The Mayor
of Kazan Ilsur Metshin visited the site and inspected the progress of
restoration work.
The retaining
wall on Bulak, built in the 1970s, collapsed due to metal corrosion of the
embeds, with which decorative plates were attached to a reinforced concrete flow
passage. After the research work, it was decided to restore the wall using
modern technologies and durable materials. “Now the retaining wall is a single
monolithic part that is attached to the flow passage. Due to this, the wall
will be adjusted tightly”, - Igor Kulyazhev, Deputy head of the Executive
Committee of Kazan, told the head of the city.
Currently,
specialists of the contracting organization – Municipal Unitary Enterprise “Gorodskoe
blagoystroistvo” – have restored 81 meters of the wall – the entire overhauled
area, and 61 meters of capping beam. To carry out work in the passage, the
water level was lowered. “In 2 days, workers will begin to remove the
scaffolding, polish and paint the retaining wall”, - said I.Kulyazhev. After preparing
the wall for painting, the workers will proceed to the arrangement of fences,
installation of lighting poles, landscaping and cleaning of the site from silt.
The Mayor of
Kazan interested about the results of the survey of other sections of the
retaining wall. According to I.Kulyazhev, the results of the survey, which
revealed the vertical deviation of the plates on a separate site, were sent to
the Ministry of Construction, Architecture and Housing of the republic to make recommendations
on its maintenance.
For reference,
the retaining wall on Bulak collapsed in April this year. The Mayor of Kazan
instructed to allocate funds from the municipal reserve fund for the
restoration of the site.
