A new snow melting station will start operating on Portovaya Street in
December. It will allow three times to increase the capacity for melting of
snow on the territory of the Vakhitovsky and Privolzhsky city districts. The
capacity of all snowmaking stations will increase from 6,300 tons to more than
8,000 tons of snow per day. At the new station, a system of so-called “electronic
snow coupons” developed at the Kazan Executive Committee will be tested in a
test mode, which will speed up the cleaning of the city. Today, the Mayor of
the capital of the republic of Tatarstan Ilsur Metshin inspected the progress
of construction work.
The new station on Portovaya Street is equipped with two cameras and
will be able to melt 1,148 tons of snow every day. In order not to clog the
point, garbage-holding baskets are installed in the chambers. The construction
of the administrative building is being completed. Production work is scheduled
to be completed in December, today they are 95% completed, reported the
director of the Municipal Unitary Enterprise “Vodokanal” Andrey Yegorov.
In addition to this facility, the capacities of the snow melting station
on Nesmelova street are currently increasing in Kazan.
“We continue to increase the urban infrastructure for snow removal and
disposal, because the number of roads being cleaned is growing. The city needs
new snow melting units. Last year we removed 665,000 tons of snow to the
snowmaking stations – this is 27% more than in 2021. We must prepare all the
resources we have before winter,”- Ilsur Metshin said.
There are seven snow melting stations with 11 reception chambers in
Kazan. With the commissioning of two facilities, the number of snow melting units
will increase to eight, and the number of receiving chambers will increase to
14. The total capacity will increase from 6,300 tons to more than 8 thousand
tons.
A snow storage area is also being built on Tetsevskaya Street with an
area of more than 12,000 square meters. It will be the first site in the city
equipped with a storm sewer with a meltwater treatment system. It is planned to
remove snow from part of the territory of the Aviastroitelny, Kirovsky and Moskovsky
districts.
In case of emergencies, together with the district administrations, nine
additional places for temporary storage of snow have been organized.
In order to increase the capacity of the new snow melting unit, a
project on automatic recognition of dump trucks is being implemented in test
mode, Maxim Bulatov, aide to the Mayor on digitalization, reported. For the
removal of 665 thousand tons of snow removed last winter, it took about 133
thousand rounds. Until now, the procedure for receiving snow at the stations of
the city has been quite lengthy: checking the driver's admission in manual mode
and obtaining a permit takes an average of 10 to 20 minutes. As a result,
queues of trucks appear in front of the gates of the stations. The new system
of so-called “electronic snow coupons” allows automatically recognize
transport, determine which organization it belongs to, correlate it with the
admission data. This will increase the capacity of the unit and increase the
speed of cleaning city streets.
