The Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin visited one of the private educational institutions of the city – the international Unischool today. The head of the capital of Tatarstan got acquainted with the program and conditions of education of school students. In total, there are 15 private schools in Kazan for 2,500 students.
Unischool opened in Kazan in 2017. It is located in the Sovetsky city district at the Art City residential complex. Today, almost 200 children study there from the first to the seventh grades. The school's management plans to increase the number of students to 300.
Victoria Cherkesova, the principal of the school, told the Mayor that the educational process is built in such a way that children are trained according to Russian standards before lunch, and after that according to the club system. School students study Tatar, English, Chinese and Spanish.
Special focus is learning languages with native speakers. For example, the institution employs teachers from Canada, Brazil, Pakistan, India, the Philippines and Uganda. In total, the school's staff includes 32 teachers, 11 of them are foreigners. The school also has its own tutors who accompany the children during school breaks and lunch time.
The area of school is more than 7,500 square meters, it has a swimming pool and three gyms. Children can choose an individual sport - badminton, fencing and swimming, as well as football.
“Last month, our student became the bronze medalist of the Russian Badminton Championship and took gold as part of the team in the under-13 age category. Last year, our boys' team born in 2011 also became the champion of Kazan in mini-football and this year the boys born in 2012 took third place. The school has its own women's football team,”- said Victoria Cherkesova.
To gain professional skills, the school has equipped a sewing class, a carpentry workshop, and a cooking class. Students also have access to a psychological relaxation room, a library, and a room for individual classes. Children are provided with four meals a day, including vegetarian meals.
