Ilsur Metshin: “The modernization of Kazan Thermal Power Plant -1 has provided opportunities for the construction of residential areas”

Kazan Mayor Ilsur Metshin visited Kazan Thermal Power Plant- 1 today. A large energy company provides heat to enterprises and residents of the Privolzhsky and Vakhitovsky city districts– a total of 750 residential buildings and 123 social facilities. Thanks to the timely modernization, the production capacities of power plant - 1 will serve the new neighborhoods of Kazan, including in the territories at Portovaya Street and Voznesensky Tract.

“Kazan's energy system is regularly tested by cold weather. Every day we start by checking heating supply. Kazan Thermal Power Plant-1 is one of the main facilities of the Kazan energy system, which feeds 750 residential buildings and 123 social facilities. Frosts test us once again and our readiness for winter. It is just beginning, we hope that there will be no problems,”- Ilsur Metshin said.

The Mayor emphasized that today the company has created a good reserve of capacities, which allows the city to plan the development of residential areas and the construction of large facilities.

 “Thanks to the modernization of the power plant, there are new opportunities for the construction of residential areas such as Portovaya Street, where we are going to build more than one million square meters of housing. It is also planned to additionally use the Gorki boiler house, thanks to this, new residential neighborhoods along the Voznesensky tract will be provided with heat. I wish you successful and smooth operation,”- Ilsur Metshin addressed the management of the enterprise.

Rauzil Khaziev, Director General of Tatenergo JSC, and Vitaly Tyuklin, Director of Kazan Thermal Power Plant -1, told the Mayor about plans to provide heat to new neighborhoods. According to them, all new facilities at the residential area near the river port will be provided with heat due to the capacities of the power plant. In addition, in the near future, heat energy from the Gorki boiler house will be supplied to residential buildings and social facilities under construction on the Voznesensky Tract.

The work will also be carried out in preparation for the BRICS summit, which will be held in Kazan in October 2024.

Kazan Mayor got acquainted with the technical equipment in the main facility. Thermal capacity of the Kazan Thermal Power Plant -1 is 721 Gcal/h, and the electric capacity is 453 MW. In the Azino and Gorki boilers, the thermal capacity is estimated at 460 Gcal/h and 200 Gcal/h.

The main consumers of thermal energy of thermal power plant are residents of the Privolzhsky and Vakhitovsky city districts.

In 2005, the Azino and Gorki boiler houses were connected with the Kazan Thermal Power Plant-1, which today are sources of heat supply in the southeastern part of the city. Thus, the Azino boiler house serves 617 facilities, of which 464 are social facilities. In turn, the Gorki boiler room is designed for the residential districts of Gorki, Novye Gorki and the residential complex Rodina.
