A recreation area with hammocks, chaise loungers, playgrounds for children, and workout equipment has been created on G. Kamala Street. Over 80 trees and shrubs have been planted there. The residents actively participated in the project's development.
Previously, an area of almost 3,300 square meters was occupied by two rows of garages and trees. When the Mayor came to inspect the results of the renovation, residents asked for the square to be landscaped. «We develop not only large parks such as Elmay, the boulevard on Serova Street, or the Chaikovye Lakes, but also small squares like this one, which are important to residents. They create a green framework for Kazan», – Ilsur Metshin said.
The landscaping work was carried out by the Novastroy group of companies at their own expense. Together with the administrations of the Vakhitovsky and Privolzhsky city districts and the Old Town prefecture, it was possible to remove the garages and clear the site of emergency trees. A lawn was laid in the park covering an area of 2,500 square meters, and 42 trees and 39 shrubs of various species were planted, including lilacs and viburnums. Additionally, a hedge consisting of 560 shrubs of Siberian fir has been planted.
«There used to be some rusty garages in this area, but now we see a landscaped park. Soon, a construction of the residential building will be finished and the construction noise will stop, so in spring, the trees will begin to bloom, and it will be a cozy, quiet place», – said the head of the city.
Three hammocks, four chaise loungers, and three benches were installed in the recreation area for residents. On the sports ground, a workout area was equipped. For children, a playground with a sandy surface, swings, and a pair of climbing tubes was installed. Twelve urns and twenty-two vandal-proof park lamps were installed throughout the park, and in the center of the park, a tub was placed where people can plant.
Parking for 16 cars was organized along the street, and sidewalks with a total length of almost one kilometer were laid along well-worn paths in the park.
«Thank you for landscaping such a wonderful park. You keep your promises! When this house was handed over to us, we were promised a park. And you kept your promise», – a resident said to the Mayor.
This year, 19 public spaces with a total area of nearly 42 hectars were landscaped in Kazan. This record amount of work was completed thanks to preparations for the BRICS Games, the BRICS summit, and the implementation of the Creation of a Comfortable Urban Environment federal project, as well as the allocation of funds from the republic's budget.
More than 2,000 trees, 57,000 shrubs and
perennials were planted in the parks, and the automatic irrigation system
stretched for 52 km. 114 km of coatings were laid, 5,300 light points were
installed – the total length of lighting networks was almost 53 km. The spaces
were decorated with over 1,200 small architectural forms. Thirteen children's
and sports grounds were also improved.
