The third stage of the embankment improvement of Lake Nizhny Kaban is underway in Kazan. Currently, the construction of the pile foundation for walking decks above the water, the installation of metal structures, and the construction of observation decks are carried out. Kazan Mayor Ilsur Metshin and the Minister of Construction, Architecture, Housing and Utilities of Tatarstan Marat Ayzatullin inspected the progress of the work today.
“On behalf of the Rais of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, we hold weekly meetings to discuss the improvement of the Nizhny Kaban Lake embankment. This is the third stage of the improvement, which consists of two phases. We plan to complete the first phase by the Day of the City and the Republic. We have developed a concept and consulted with community members and residents of Staro-Tatarskaya Sloboda. Our goal is to ensure fitting new landscaping, pedestrian paths, lighting, and viewing platforms along the banks. It is important that the flora and fauna are not only protected, but also receive new development. This is a beloved location of the residents of Kazan and Staro-Tatarskaya Sloboda. We hope that the area will take on new life and become a significant addition to the beauty of our city,” said Ilsur Metshin.
The third stage of the improvement project covers the area along Mardzhani Street, from the bridge on Nursultan Nazarbayev Street to Zayni Sultan Street. A project provides for a single walking route around Lake Nizhny Kaban, with a length of approximately five kilometers.
Today, works on filling temporary roads and working areas necessary for the pile driving are underway. In areas where the pile foundation is already completed, the construction workers are pouring concrete structures and simultaneously assembling the metal frame of the future embankment. This frame will serve as the foundation for the installation of larch boards, fences, and small architectural forms.
